Role of the Mayor and Related Charter Amendments

Position Statement:

CAMO is opposed to any Town Charter Amendments that will change the role of

the mayor, and reduce or remove responsibilities from the Elected Chief Executive

and Financial Officer of the Town. Responsibilities such as appointments, financial

decisions, and hiring and terminating town staff should not be reduced or

removed. CAMO believes that efforts to change the Town Charter

regarding Mayoral powers should be tabled so that the Council, Mayor, and Staff

can focus on the myriad of zoning, ordinance, and Town resource challenges

inherent in the development projects that are being proposed or underway.
