Mount Airy seeks to annex the Harrison-Leishear Property, 258 acres located on Route 27 between Watersville Rd & Leishear Dr, for Office Park Employment zoning.
MXD Zoning & the Beck Property (Mt. Airy Crossing)
The Beck Property, 90 acres located on Rt 27, is zoned Mixed Use for a mix of residential and commercial uses.
Mount Airy Planning/Zoning Process
Current town code dictates that, for Mixed Use Developments, adequate public facilities are not a consideration until after the Town Council votes whether to proceed on a pre-concept plan.
Role of the Mayor and Related Charter Amendments
The Town Charter is essentially our town's constitution. The town council is currently proposing charter amendments, some of which would lessen the powers of the Mayor.
Water Access & Availability for New Developments
Mount Airy historically has had issues with water availability based on limits set by the Maryland Department of the Environment. New developments could impact existing water availability.
